From the heart and desk of pastor maggie
Hello Friends,
I hope you’re enjoying these pleasant temperatures. We have to take them when we get them, because we all know that summer combines heat and humidity making us crave the AC. I’m watching the forecast closely so I know what to pack this week for Annual Conference, but regardless of the weather, it will be great to see and catch up with my colleagues.
On another note, I want to request that we change a habit of communication. Sharon Pardue has been the instant point of contact for reporting about folks who are in the hospital, had a recent death in the family or request use of the church or Fellowship Hall. It’s understandable because Sharon wears and has worn many hats at Grace. Her diligence and hard work keep our church running smoothly. However, she is back to working full time, and sometimes, she can’t always get information to me as quickly as I need it.
Rather than wait for 'Joys and Concerns’ on Sunday morning, please contact me as soon as possible to let me know that someone in our church or extended church family is struggling, dying or has died. I have a Spiritual responsibility to reach out and offer a Visitation, Condolences, Prayers, or anything else the person or family may need from Grace. I will get the ball rolling concerning the use of the Cemetery, Sanctuary, and/or Fellowship Hall.
I’m always available 24/7 by phone. It broke my heart that I was not at the bedside praying over Steve Cooper when he took his last breath. The message that he only had hours to live was buried in a text thread that I missed. I’m old school, so please call me rather than send a text. I’ll answer right away, and call you back if I’m on the phone. Otherwise, keep calling until I pick up. Here are both of my numbers. Pastor phone: 540-227-6667 or my personal cell: 703-862-4199
Our Grace is more than lunches, dinners, and rentable spaces, we are a Christ-Centered Community with a big heart for our neighbors. It’s my job to foster and demonstrate the love of God and Grace. Have a blessed week.
