Welcoming All to Worship, Grow and Serve Together

Grace is at an important crossroads, and we want to speak openly and honestly with our church family about where we are. The financial support we are currently receiving through weekly giving and other sources is not enough to meet our present budget and ongoing expenses. We cannot continue indefinitely on our current course. Something will need to change—but we believe strongly that decisions about the future of Grace should not be made by just a few people. This is our church family, and the path forward needs to be one we discern together.

For that reason, we will be holding a Town Hall meeting, tentatively to be held in the late afternoon of Sunday, September 13th, time TBD. Our District Superintendent will be joining us. This will be an opportunity for everyone in the fellowship to hear more clearly about our current situation, ask questions, share concerns, offer ideas, and most importantly, be part of the conversation about Grace’s future. We want every voice to have an opportunity to be heard as we prayerfully consider what changes may be necessary and what possibilities may lie ahead.

There is a box located in church narthex for your thoughts and questions. You may also speak to any member of the SPPRC and Leadership Committee directly or by email. We encourage you to participate in whatever way feels most comfortable. Above all, we ask everyone to begin praying now—for wisdom, for openness, for one another, and for Grace. This is not simply a financial conversation; it is a conversation about who we are as a fellowship, what God is calling us to be, and how we move faithfully into the future together.

As we enter a season of discernment for the Grace UMC faith community. Part of looking forward is knowing where we have come from.

2026 marks Grace's 140th year of ministry to the Hartwood community. Bill Arrington, our church historian, has a plan to create a display of Grace-related mementos and memorabilia. Bill is looking for items you might have personally that you would be willing to loan to the church temporary. The display will be up until the October 10 Cluster 7 Charge Conference. This will allow our visitors and district representatives, as well as all of us to enjoy it.

My memories at Grace only go back five years, and I know I would enjoy the walk through the entire History of Grace in Hartwood

See you in church.
